WIPUP 25.07.10b released.
25th July 2010
WIPUP 25.07.10b is the first ever beta version of WIPUP. This means WIPUP is pretty much feature complete (though we do have plans for much, much more in the future). WIPUP is therefore now ready for public consumption. So go on and join! We've been polishing things left and right to get ready for this, so we hope you enjoy using it just as much as we do.
To continue the tradition of quoting statistics (there are lies, damned lies, and statistics) using Git measurements we have a stunning 19,770 source lines of code added, and a meager 8,072 source lines of code deleted. This gives a net total of 11,698 source lines of code added. This has been spread over 28 commits.
Right - to the features presentation ceremony!
Project collaboration (contributor) support added.
Are a few friends helping you on that project you started? Well now they can update the very same WIPUP project for it. Collaboration support allows up to 4 people working on a single project together (not more, as we're not a project management system, if you have more people, you need a different tool). These people will be given the ability to submit updates to this project and it will display on their WIPSpace just like the rest of their work.
A brand spanking new navigation design.
This design, we feel, not only contributes to the aesthetics department but to the usability department as well. It guides the eye towards the three main functions of the website - WIPSpaces, adding WIPs, and discovering new WIPs.
The logout button has also turned into a tiny black arrow next to your dashboard link. It looks nice, but we're still considering the usability vs space issues it brings.
Email notifications and privacy options.
Email notifications are now by default on and so whenever something interesting happens either to your WIP or to somebody you're tracking or something you've subscribed to, you'll receiving a friendly email saying what's going on. Note that not all news will go through email - some news (usually the "less" important ones) will remain available only in your Newsreel.
Although privacy was never really an issue with WIPUP, we're now giving you options to hide your email (useful if you want notifications but don't want others to know your email) and to disable trackers. To remain secure with WIPUP, you can also now change your password.
